Scunthorpe United News

Swann: Time was right to sack Alexander

Scunthorpe United chairman Peter Swann has defended his decision to sack Graham Alexander, saying he could not see where the next win was coming from following the 1-1 draw with Rochdale at Glanford Park.

The Iron have won just one game since New Years Day, but are still in the play off and Swann admitted he felt the time was right to give the club the best chance of promotion. I was struggling to see where our next win was.

Swann has also confirmed interest in both Steve Cotterill and Steve McClaren as possible replacements for Graham Alexander.
Nick Daws and Andy Dawson will take charge of Scunthorpe United in the interim until a replacement is found for Graham Alexander.

Scunthorpe interim manager Nick Daws will check on the fitness of Jordan Clarke ahead of the clash with Plymouth.
Clarke was replaced after 72 minutes against Oxford in his first start since a hamstring problem.
Daws told the club's official website: "We took Jordan off because we knew we would get 60 minutes from Jordan at best. He's probably got through a little bit on adrenaline, and the advice was we needed to take him off."
Marnick Vermijl returned to the bench against Oxford after a hamstring injury of his own and can step in if needed.

Scunthorpe United report loss of £3.4million in the latest accounts

I agree too.

However that would take some sort of organisational skills, and they are sadly lacking at Home Park.

Bovril at £1.70 is 50p cheaper than at Home Park.

I'll make the most of that saving tomorrow for sure. cheers

I'm expecting different line up today with a 4 man midfield playing a 5-4-1 formation......cannot afford to lose and Paton will come in to toughen the midfield.....pitch will be heavy so am expecting Lamerais to make way in a tactical change

Heavy rain and currently snowing there as well

Over on free chat there's a couple of tit's posting that it's been called off due to the adverse weather. I'm not sure if the guy is fecking around or serious. Either way he's a penis.

The bleedin obvious thing to say is we need a win given the Posh have a decent chance of three points playing Northampton at home, Charlton on a new manager roll at home to Rotheram, and Pompey a tricky one at home to Wigan.
COYG cheers

It is shit on Scunthorpe's part though and I don't blame people for being fecking angry about it. I was on the wrong end of this situation once at Newcastle when we got all the way there and it was called off but that was 1989 and things should have moved on a bit since then-surely it isn't much to ask for a bit of basic pitch covering? Bad news for Argyle now having two difficult trips for rearranged games in the north, would imagine that Adams is not particularly chuffed about the situation.
