PLYMOUTH Argyle have launched a new initiative, which will allow supporters to report incidences of abuse or other offences, such as anti-social behaviour by texting ARGYLE and your message to 66777.

Fans have been reminded that any sort abuse, whether that be toward a player, steward or indeed any member of staff, will not under any circumstance be tolerated. It is hoped that this new feature will stamp out such offences in future.

The Green Army are also reminded that the use of Pyrotechnics are illegal, unsafe and not welcome at Home Park. Any fan found guilty of trying to enter the stadium, or detonating anything of this nature will be served with a three-year ban from all football stadiums.

If ever a system was open to selective abuse, there it is right there.

Like the club signing up to pubwatch and a fan being banned from the ground,
For an incident that he says didn't happen and has no way of finding out what it was or appealing.

Thing is they know if they can't sell a ticket/ban someone who would legitimately call one of Adams/a player/ref/linesman a wanker.

I'm not against this idea for reporting of the flares, racial/drunken abuse issues.

Don't most clubs higher up the food chain already do this kind of stuff for racist and homophobic shit and then monitor by CCTV/ discrete stewarding to identify perpetrators before taking appropriate action.

Wading in to eject someone on the basis that the bloke three seats back didn't like their criticism of Derek Adams would be a complete abuse of the system.

But we have already abused the system.
The fan banned because the clubs signed up to pubwatch etc.

We know that its gonna be abused, because we aren't allowed to voice displeasure at Adams etc,
Hallets said that and We've seen Adams moan in the press about getting booed.

I mean we are heading towards the stage where some of us could be banned for voicing displeasure towards Adams on here,

other clubs have banned people for more serious abuse on the internet.

Eg
"A Brighton fan has been banned for five matches for posting offensive comments online about Cyrille Regis following the FA Cup fourth-round draw"

Thats fine that should happen, but being removed and banned for calling (insert name here) any of useless,shit,a wanker,feckin wanking,cnut, etc is taking shit too far,

Theres so many questions to be asked about this system, but doubt the club would answer them.
If they do it will all be in pc plod nothing to do with how a club should be run terminology

Agree, but the given toxic wanabee culture that still pervades Hallett's new world it is highly likely, that certain individuals will be at risk of a "complaint", particularly given that is still snaffling around with his farm pals.

Another worry with these sort of initiatives is proof. If I text that number saying the Joe Bloggs in seat X said something racist, what level of proof is required before the guy gets banned? Reports of abuse could be malicious, or could even be due to mishearing what people have said.

Also "any sort of abuse" is a woefully vague definition, which potentially leaves the system (ironically) open to abuse.
