It's going to be carnage. It's a shame the government didn't put some clauses into the £500m QE that they gave the banks making them offer the very best terms to keep businesses afloat during this time. The FL should be taking a long hard look at themselves as well.

Apparently the Huddersfield chairman said they were close to it, and so were several other clubs last week.

Outside of the PL, and apart from certain ex PL Championship clubs - I can't see how clubs 'CAN' survive without supporters coming through the turnstiles and/or fans snapping up season tickets. Of course, a chairman/owner with deep pockets can keep you going, but for how long before even them say enough's enough!

A bat lurgy from China ends the existence of established professional football clubs that have been around since the day dot! Who'd have thunked it?

After the furlough scheme ends and there's still no football being played that's when clubs will be falling like 9 pins. There's no absolutely no way EFL clubs will be able to play with no fans. Carnage ahead and no EFL club is safe.

No sympathy for Wigan. They are basically a non-league club with zero fan base historically, that has been bankrolled totally by Dave Whelan and his family for decades virtually since they got elected into the EFL in the late 70’s. With no sugar daddy thry are completely unsustainable as anything other than maybe a league two side.

wigan won me £275 when they won the fa cup thanks to me ticking the wrong box so they are ok in my book. Shame they have hit the administration button. Dave Whelan must be breaking his leg all over again at the news.

Ah, Wigan. Wigan away (80's? 90's?) Anyway. Did anyone else go to the utterly chaotic away match where there was fighting everywhere, the burger stand was picked up and carried 200 yards down the road ( occupants included Laughing ) A pre-match pub had thousands of pounds of jewellery stolen and some coaches were escorted to the local nik for questioning ( ours included Laughing ) The disabled stand was, well, disabled and used as ammo against the Northern enemy. Hand-to-hand combat in the car park after the game was nothing short of something out of Nintendos 'street fighter' game.

Ahhh (big sigh) Halcyon days - apart from the fat lip and split eyebrow I received when defending the Janner nation bus from hoards of Northern vikings trying to board our ship without an invitation.

All-in-all, a jolly good day out!

85/86 Promotion season. Lost 3-0 but was one of the best away days ever.

Christ on a bike. That long ago? Indeed - a day to remember, and tell your kids about Laughing . Most definitely a 'during the war' moment in the history of following Argo.

Got a lift from Mary Tavy where I was working had a great crack on the way up and fookin froze on the way home due to every window except the windscreen being broken on the car which we'd parked about ten minutes from the ground to keep it safe. It was mental.
I think it was the same season we went to Huddersfield in a rented transit and had to windscreen caved in and it was pissing down. Luckily I didn't have my licence on me at he hire shop so my mate took a very hard line on only him being allowed to drive. He wasn't so chipper arriving back in muff wearing a suit made out of bin bags and suffering from hypothermia.

Dodgy, very dodgy.

Hong Kong company listed in the Cayman Islands buys club. Then sells it to another Hong Kong company listed in Cayman Islands, who pay for club then immediately puts in administration (another victory for the 'fit and proper persons test'). Think someone is trying to hide some income for accountacy purposes...

Peterborough in the 70’s was before my time, but from what I here from people who were at both games, Wigan in ‘86 was very similar. The crowd I think was 9,400ish at Springfield Park and it was thought that Argyle actually outnumbered the home fans. It was an away day to remember for everything except the 3-0 result. bom Big grass bank away end with a cowshed at the top.

After totally taking the Springfield pub outside the ground which was drunk dry and generally trashed, we then went up the road and looted the off licence of any booze worth having and took it back to the coach that was being bricked by the locals. Another melee ensued and we then literally fought our way to the ground, getting inside and it was even more anarchic inside with hundreds of Argyle in the home ends before streaming across the pitch and dismantling the disabled stand.

Not big. Not clever. And in retrospect quite shameful in some aspects. But what a fun day.

£1M SHOCK Wigan’s administrators want a new buyer to pay the crisis club’s wages next week

The hard-up outfit face a financial headache as they try to sell players in a hurry to sort out their bills.

But this new demand has shocked potential bidders who will have to fork out around £1million in salaries immediately.

Paul Cook’s squad are due their August pay cheques in full and the administrators want a buyer to sign up for this as they struggle to raise the funds by player sales.

Most will have cuts in their deals after relegation while some will have left to reduce the amount from its previous £1.6m level.

But it is an instant extra demand when any buyer is already under huge pressure to exchange contracts by Friday.

If the Wigan players cannot be paid within a fortnight then they can ALL give notice to leave for nothing, putting the club on the brink of meltdown.

Paul Cook will leave Wigan Athletic after resigning from his role as manager, following the club going into administration earlier this month. Cook guided the club to 13th in the Sky Bet Championship before a 12-point deduction relegated them to League One, subject to appeal.

He’s not going to jump to a club in administration in the same division is he? He’s already worked for one bankrupt club.

They trousered £500,000 from Spurs yesterday for a 15 year old so that should ease the bankrolling for a while
