In light of tonight’s Bashir revelations, as well as many others over recent years, surely it’s about time the BBC tax was abolished / decriminalised & the rotten organisation was left to survive or otherwise in the real world.
Bashir, Saville, Noel Clark, the countless pervert personalities - all covered up by the BBC & that’s without mentioning their overpaid employee’s political bias in all manner of issues.

Indeed Melbury

I've just listened to Williams video broadcast and also the reported words of Harry
Both utterly savage the BBC.

Dont want to go off topic per se but what exactly did Johnny Speight "know" when he scripted Alf Garnett in "Till Death do us Part" in the BBC episodes
Multiple references to Jimmy Saville and Cyril Smith in the episodes
Now that was in and around 1965-75

BBC have a lot to answer for

100% agree with that, however we’ll still have all the lies, personal vendettas, photo bombing and general crap being posted and portrayed on social media outlets that purports to be the truth when actually most of it is total bollox

Passing very briefly over political bias, most people are aware that James Purnell was a former Labour minister before joining the BBC on a salary of £295,000. Purnell left when Tim Davie became head honcho. I believe 3 or 4 policy makers at the Beeb are former Guardian employees.

As for Bashir, Savile, and Noel Clarke, you might also add Cliff Richard and Lord McAlpine:

Bashir is currently in the news whereas I've dug out this Johnny Rotten interview with Piers Morgan...

As for that mucky creep Clarke, he talks about getting 'professional help' while at the same time recruiting a certain Caroline McAteer - who once worked with the Beckhams following allegations by 20 women of groping and harassment. It appears he's leaving no stone unturned.

Cliff Richard received a cool £2m when the Beeb filmed a police raid on his home in 2014 while Lord McAlpine was left facing a nightmare that any decent man would dread - that of being accused of being a paedophile....

BBC should be funding itself considering its narrative over the years to promote over anything else "over the top woke" and "demographic box ticking for the sake of it" and left wing bias agendas with its content through out its platforms in recent years and the general quality as a result being total dogshit and thats on top of whats being brought up here in this thread.

For a state broadcaster funded by tax payers that the BBC is its not fit for purpose.

What has Lord Melbury said that doesn't ring true ? View the Johnny Rotten link in which he say's that apart from Jimmy Savile there were other unpleasant paedophile reptiles prowling the BBC corridors.

I'm not altogether sure that abolishing the BBC licence fee would work as the corporation would rely heavily on commercial bodies that would find the ways and means to attach a few strings. It's self-evident that the Beeb is biased what with EU cash, the number of remainers as opposed to leavers on 'Question Time' and who can forget that appalling Panarama episode which the BBC was obliged to apologise when the interviewees were all found to be Labour activists.

The Beeb hasn't exactly covered itself with glory over this, but it was nearly 30 years ago.

I did laugh at the Boris interview where he professed himself to be very concerned over the lies and deceit practised back then. Very rich coming from someone who used lies and deceit to get into power and still lies every day.

More seriously, I'm not a huge fan of the BBC, but it does provide (or should do) an independent view of the news - which is why people like Johnson, and the Tories in general, hate the organisation with passion. Cameron threatened to close it down and Johnson has installed a Tory Party donor in charge.

What this current episode has done is give the Tories more ammunition in their quest to control the media in this country. They consider themselves to be above questioning, shown by their lack of accountability and bare faced refusal to accept any responsibility for anything that has gone wrong over the last few years.

Close down the Beeb perhaps, but be careful what you wish for, the Tories and their media will be bombarding you with their version of the truth, which as we know from Johnson, bears no relation to reality.

Last night just showed that the whole thing is political. We only watched the voting from about 11.20 and it was no surprise where the UK was. I didn’t like our entry but as Norton said ( after listening to some of the songs this morning) it wasn’t the worst one. Cyprus giving Greece max points seeing as it is half greek and Lithuania giving Ukraine the same as a poke in the eye to Russia?

as you can hear and see it was a shit song so the fact it came last isnt a shock, but still if the bbc are going to keep partly funded this competition than at least have the song selection taken seriously... like germany did and they got 3 points.
