THE Football League's yellow card's

THE Football League's yellow card amnesty came into effect this weekend.

It means that any player who is booked for a fifth time this season from now on will not be suspended for one match.

Argyle had Graham Carey, Kelvin Mellor, captain Curtis Nelson and Craig Tanner all on four yellow cards before the game against Dagenham.

None of them were booked so the threat of a one-match has now been removed.

Players who receive 10 yellow cards in a season before the second Sunday in April will be suspended for two games.

Argyle's Carl McHugh and Gary Sawyer are already on eight.

The five booking rule doesn't apply until 31st December.

Anyone that gets to five before then will still be banned, after which it's 10 before 31st March

Suspensions are automatically imposed for accumulating 5, 10, or 15 cautions in a season. There are cut-off dates for receiving a sanction as a result of accumulated cautions. They are:

CAUTIONS CUT OFF DATES (Inclusive)
5 (Premier League) 31 December
5 (Football League, National League, Steps 2-4) 30 November
10 (Premier League, Steps 2-4) 2nd Sunday in April
10 (Football League, National League) 2nd Sunday in March
15 End of Season

For example, a Premier League player earning their fifth caution of the season on or after 1st January would not earn any ban. However, if they received ten cautions by the second Sunday in April, a ban would apply. Players who receive 20 or more cautions in a season shall be required to attend a Regulatory Commission.

So KT was wrong about the Argyle cards?

Looks like KT was wrong on the 5 and the Herald was wrong on the 10. Seems that is 2nd Sunday in March for FL
