A furious EFL have reportedly written to clubs telling them not to endorse Channel 5’s decision to hire Colin Murray as host of their Saturday night highlights show.

The Irishman is set to anchor the show, replacing Lynsey Hipgrave and George Riley, in his first appearance on Channel 5 since he anchored the Thursday night UEFA Cup coverage between 2006 and 2010.

But EFL bosses have been left livid at the news, which sees popular pair Lynsey and George dispensed with, with reports surfacing suggesting the Football League is disappointed it has not been consulted over the decision.
