Player Coach Appointment/Squad Update
As you will probably know by now we have completed the signing of former professional Darren Purse. Darren made his debut yesterday at AFC Totton after a week of discussions. It is a major signing for us and shows our intent in terms of promotion. Darren has a wealth of experience in the professional game having played in excess of 700 games in both the Premier League and the Football League up until the end of last season helping Port Vale to get promoted. We match each other's ambitions at this time in Darren's career. Playing part time allows Darren to explore other opportunities in the game, and with his experience and coaching qualifications we get the benefit of a player with real leadership qualities. Darren wants to play on for a while yet, he is in great shape and wants to help us get promotion. He fitted in well with the squad yesterday, and I am sure his character will rub off on the dressing room.
The squad is strong at the moment, and we have options to cover the forwards if we need to. There may be other changes as we look to get the balance right for the business end of the season.
