Could and should have been much harsher considering he's a serial offender.

Asti - Suarez is banned for 4 months from ANY football activity (and is banned from stadiums) so this would include playing for Liverpool.

I think this is a poor punishment and its hardly much more than he was given by the Premier League/ FA for his last incident with Ivanovic. Should have been at least a year.

Liverpool can still sell him though.

And how about a retrospective ban meaning his 2 goals against England are wiped out and we qualify instead of Uruguay

Forty Four months would have been appropriate. He should be made to wear a muzzle when he returns.

Of course, if the use of available technology was allowed, not only would the referees be able to refer to it on crucial decisions but both captains could have say two appeals per match. This sort of incident and all the wrestling in the box would be greatly curtailed as a result. Suarez would have been sent off there and then and the winning goal would probably not have happened.

With the support Suarez is getting from his own Ururguayan Football Association....it might be more appropriate to ban Uruguay from international football for a period.....a year...or two....or even  three....which would stop them participating in the next World Cup.

Liverpool can only see disappearing pound notes.....and that is why they are backing off at present to making a decision over the matter.
