Passed away aged 84.Excellent captain of Yorkshire before being cruelly sacked and played a major part in transforming Somerset from being a non achieving backwater into a major force in English cricket, including overseeing the development of Ian Botham and Viv Richards. Certainly didn't lack courage even at the age of 46 against the fearsome West Indies attack, no helmets either;
