The bbc will be so pleased to broadcast that, they have been pushing the variant as their top story for weeks.

No Covid test kits in Pharmacies.....tried five...no kits but hoping to have some soon.....that doesn't sound clever for testings before the family get togethers on the 25th.

It was said last week that testing had gone from 800k per day to 1.6 million.
Then, surprise, surprise, cases double.

The head of the WHO is 100% right that the wealthier nations can't just boost their way out if this pandemic.  Need to vaccinate the poorer countries to the same level or there will just be more and more variants.

Gordon Brown has again been talking about this.

The whole world needs to vaccinate, suppress and stop transmission.

The virus will just mutate indefinitely else.

We are fecked because the right wing capitalist freedom christians will not allow that.

The only way to get a true reflection on what essentially matters most, is gauge the number of people needing hospital treatment. With cases rocketing in the last week, it’ll be the first couple weeks in January before we see the true impact on the huge cases rise, and/or Omicron.

What could potentially bring the country to a standstill isn’t a lockdown, it’s the sheer number of people going down with Covid due to Omicrons super spreading.

A guy I knew in Gunnislake who was a roofer about seventy caught Covid and died a couple of days ago another anti vaxxer. He is the first one I have heard about who has actually died from the disease with no underlying conditions.
My youngest bhey has just announced that he has tested positive FFS! I just got home with the Goose and all the booze so we not only have enough food but with cancelling the old dears and my brother we will have enough to feed the whole neighborhood. On the upside I've never heard my old man being so cheerful when I told him I could imagine him punching the air.

If a variant comes along that is super infectious - and so becomes the dominant strain by out competing all other variants - but only causes a very mild disease, that is how the pandemic will probably end. This is how many experts have been predicting the end of the pandemic.

It isn’t a case of us simply doing more tests.

A very simple way of gauging just how many (more) infections are actually happening, is to look at the number of football matches getting called off. The testing protocols for clubs has remained exactly the same....yet infections are through the roof. Hence the schedules getting decimated.
