It's all down to the transfer window. Adams said after the match how poor we were and that we have a threadbare squad.

I have a feeling that the reluctant one will back him in January [with someone else's money of course], as even he must see that he must keep Adams happy and that attendances will rise for a title race. It's his best chance of cashing in, one way or another.

How much cash have the trust got to lend the club lol!

Posters have already said you were shiite, which is true, but that was the best I have seen the Dags play all season, Oxford were here last week and were no better against a far inferior Dags team, you are nailed on to make the play offs, I shall really enjoy watching you bomb out at that stage again.

Dog lucky my arse, huge deflection my fecking arse!

Even without the goal, Brunt was 10 x more effective up front than Jervis.

Too many times we've tried Jervis up front and been shit, and even though Brunt has playing well he finds himself on the bench until late.

Before I was in a minority who (without Reuben) wanted Brunt starting, but recognition for what he brings is definitely growing. A lot of fans at Dagenham wanted him on the pitch from the start, others from about the tenth minute. You just know he is going to change the game and not let the opposition defence get comfortable, as they are inclined to do with Jervis or a bored Reuben.

Ironically Brunt always looks to offload it once he has it under, but his teammates were so shockingly poor yesterday that he didn't dare trust them with the ball when he got it under control in injury time. They had wasted just about everything he had won for them in the second half. Great goal that was a cracking testimony to Brunt's attitude: you only consider yourself beaten, you only accept defeat after you have given absolutely everything you've got until the referee's final whistle. It's a shame more of his teammates didn't show the same desire on Saturday.

Ejh is right, Brunt must start if Reid is unavailable, he's our only other genuine striker(Smalley too when fit) and a nightmare for opposition defences, we're making life easier for them by leaving him on the bench.

I'm delighted with the start Adams has made at Argyle but one of his potential downsides appears to be stubbornness, for instance, allowing Cox to go out on loan is clearly a mistake but even if all of our midfield was injured or suspended Del would never admit it.

EJH is wrong as Brunt when starting isnt as good as Brunt coming off the bench and knicking a goal. He is an impact sub at best. Jervis is better coming from the wing than upfront granted but he scores more than the odd goal here and there so he will always get the nod ahead of brunt in that role.

Disagree, how many starts has he made 2/3? Not enough to make a sensible judgement on his starting ability foreshorely.

When he has started this season and last he has been poor and ineffective. He is far better coming off the bench where he can be more of an asset and can grab a goal.

Don't buy it, if he can score in the 90th minute he can score in the 1st. When he plays shite for 8 or 10 consecutive starts your argument will have more validity.

the guy never grabbed his brass ring everytime he was offered one i think its very safe to say with conviction he wont ever be a regular goalscorer or someone capable of replacing reid from the start.

Being an Impact sub who can offer something new for 20-30 minutes works very well for him its where all of his successes have come from.

I tend to agree that Brunt seems more effective being brought on to bully tiring defences towards the end of games. He hasn't done that when he's started matches. That's been his problem. He hasn't fully taken his chance when he's played the full 90.

In addition, it's obvious that whatever Adams see's in training every day leads him to the conclusion that Brunt isn't up to starting games on a regular basis, even with Reid out. In our current situation though with dire form we could probably do worse than start him and have Jervis cutting in from the flanks in support. It has surprised me a little bit that more faith hasn't been shown in Brunt, but it's difficult to argue with Adams judgement, given where we are in the league.

One thing is certain. Jervis, despite being tall, is no centre forward. It's a specialist position and extremely challenging playing with your back to goal. Few people can do it well. As Angers has said, Jervis is the sort to come from wide/in behind, ghosting past players.
I bet Jervis' heart sinks when Delboy tells him he's playing up top.

Reid's  extended rest really has caused some headaches, and I note Adams was quoted as saying he was  " extremely annoyed at how long the injuries were taking".
Make of that what you will. I certainly have. Laughing  My head is sometimes wrong, but rarely my nose. I think he should slap a player or two around the face a bit.
